Caldesun SPF 50 Spray for Kids – Stay Sun Safe This Summer
With summer time upon us and sun holidays booked and not far off it is time to think about taking care of our kids skin this summer. We all know it is great to get some sunlight on us as we all need Vitamin D to help build and maintain strong bones and of course to put a smile on our faces but too much sun is harmful and can damage your skin especially kids’. The main cause of skin cancer is ultraviolent light (UV) radiation from sunlight. Ireland has one of the highest incidences of skin cancer in the EU- Source: Irish Cancer Society 2011.
Caldesun has a unique formulation that contains UV-A, UV-B and IR-A (infrared) protection filters. Available in SPF 50, Caldesun is clinically tested and suitable for children with neurodermatitis. Caldesun is water resistant and contains no Peg emulsifiers, perfume, artificial colours or preservatives.
It is important to protect our children from the start of their lives from this UV radiation as skin cancer takes some time to develop. Children tend to be outdoors a lot and it is thought that in a lifetime most people will get 80% of their exposure to the sun in their youth. It is said that a single sunburn at an early age increases the risk of later skin cancer by 30%.
It is essential to protect children with a “broad spectrum” sunscreen. This means that a child’s skin is protected against the UV-A and the UV-B rays. The SPF (sun protection factor) tells us how good the sunscreen is at filtering out the UV-B rays. Sun damage to skin is built up over the years and even on a cloudy day in Ireland, the sun’s rays can pass through clouds.
Caldesun has UV-A/UV-B protection and also contains an IR-A protective complex – the short-wave, non-heat producing component of infrared light, known as infrared A (IR-A), a major component of sunlight, can also cause skin damage. This damage is brought about via pathogenic mechanisms completely different to those responsible for the damage caused by UV light and it also affects deeper skin layers. Certain antioxidants have proved useful in protecting the skin against IR-A radiation and are now included in an IR-A protective complex contained in Caldesun sun protection spray.
- Children less than 6 months should be kept in the shade at all times
- Try to keep older children indoors from 11am to 3pm
- Provide hats and sunglasses for your children
- Dress children in loose fitting clothes that cover arms and legs
- Most importantly – use Caldesun Sun Protection before going out into the sun. Reapply after swimming and during the day to protect children from the sun.
Caldesun SPF 50 Spray is available in all good pharmacies, RRP €8.46 and is distributed by ClonMedica. So let’s enjoy the sun but in a safe way this summer!

Suffering from Prickly Heat? A revolutionary new approach to cooling & soothing skin
Itcheze from ClonMedica is an amazing remedy for getting to the root of almost every itch including Prickly Heat.
Prickly Heat is an itchy, red rash that often causes a stinging or prickling sensation on the skin. It usually occurs due to sweating more than usual. Excessive sweating causes sweat glands to become blocked, which can trap sweat beneath the skin, causing irritation and results in a rash.
The rash can occur anywhere on the body, but most commonly affects areas covered by clothing. With babies and children more prone to prickly heat because their sweat glands are not fully developed you have to ensure they are kept protected and wear as little as possible but are protected from the sun rays. People who are overweight or sweat easily are also more likely to get prickly heat.
An innovative product that is family-friendly Itcheze works without any of the fuss or mess, doing what its name suggests – easing that itch! A cooling gel for the relief of itchy skin conditions including prickly heat, insect bites and stings, superficially reddened and dry itchy skin. Using cutting-edge technology to help soothe, cool & moisturise irritated skin Itcheze is available in both gel and spray gel formats.
Itcheze Cooling Gel and Spray Gel contains Osmocare, a unique patented technology so it works through a process called osmosis to draw water from the inner layers of the skin to re-hydrate the surface layers. This generates a cooling effect that soothes the skin and can help reduce itching & discomfort.
With a rapid cooling effect and easy to use application, Itcheze Gel provides long-lasting moisturising benefits and can be used on both face & body and can even be used on children as young as 6 months so it is definitely one for the family first aid box! As it helps with insect bites and prickly heat it is also a definite for the holiday bag.
Itcheze stands out from other products because of its all-round performance that many existing products just cannot match, it is odourless and absorbs quickly which means it won’t stain your clothes and it can be used on all ages (from 6 months) and has most importantly it has a long lasting effect.
Itcheze Gel 100g RRP is €7.75. Itcheze Spray Gel 120ml is €9.75. Itcheze is available in large family-friendly packs in both Gel and ‘easy to use’ Spray Gel formats which makes it a ‘must’ as a holiday essential. Itcheze Cooling Gel & Spray Gel is available in all good pharmacies nationwide.

Keeping Babies Bums Happy!
CaldeSpray part of the Caldesene family from ClonMedica, is a zinc oxide milk spray for nappy rash. CaldeSpray ensures your baby is sitting pretty on that cute little bottom, by keeping your baby’s bottom protected against skin disorders such as nappy rash. This concentrated spray in CaldeSpray has excellent skin adherent and skin protective properties which form a protective barrier against wetness ensuring babies bottoms stay dry and protected.
We’ve all heard the saying “as soft as a baby’s bottom” and there are many grown women who would aspire to that level of softness in their own skin. Babies’ skin isn’t just softer than grown up skin though, it’s also more delicate, and it’s much easier to damage than that of an adult. Babies’ skin needs to be treated with loving tender care, as it is around 20 to 30% thinner than adults and therefore a lot more sensitive.
CaldeSpray is the ideal choice for busy mums, dads and carers with easy application, CaldeSpray just couldn’t be easier to use – Shake well and apply one to two sprays on to your baby’s bottom during each nappy change will help protect against nappy rash. With CaldeSpray there is no need to rub – it is as simple as ‘spray and go’ which means no mess and no sticky fingers guaranteed! With no direct contact with your baby’s skin CaldeSpray eliminates the danger of infection and cross-contamination
With approximately 125 nappy changes in each bottle of CaldeSpray, there is no need to worry about further irritating the affected area or causing baby any pain or distress as the skin does not need to be touched.

Martin Gallagher, Director of Marketing and Business Development, ClonMedica, said of the new addition “This is a revolutionary product from ClonMedica. No mess, no fuss, no touch solution to prevent nappy rash.”
